Southern living seems to suit Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, who have lately been spending time at Affleck's 83-acre spread in Hampton Island, Ga. The couple, who were spotted at a McDonald's drive-through in Savannah on Nov. 22, celebrated Thanksgiving at the actor's digs. Two days later they stopped into a Savannah Best Buy, where Affleck searched for the PlayStation 2 game Medal of Honor and Lopez browsed the CD selection. With their mud-splattered truck and their casual duds, the couple looked more like the Beverly Hillbillies than Hollywood superstars. Says one sales clerk, who didn't initially recognize Lopez in her Eskimo boots and stretch pants: "My first thought was, 'That girl's butt is too big to be wearing pants like that.' " Y'all come back now, hear?

On Nov. 26 Bethany Hamilton surfed for the first time since her left arm was bitten off by a 14-ft. shark in late October. Along with her family, the 13-year-old surf champion rode for two hours on 2-to 4-ft. waves using a longboard, which is more stable than her customary shortboard. Said Hamilton: "It was the happiest moment since the accident. I got happy tears."

Traveling twosome Nicole Kidman and Lenny Kravitz spent their Thanksgiving together at the rocker's home in Miami Beach. The following night the couple attended a concert by Spanish pop star Albita at a club in Little Havana as part of a weekend celebrating actor/director Fisher Stevens's 40th birthday. A few days later there was another birthday bash to attend: Kravitz's daughter Zoe turned 15 on Dec. 1. As for reports that Kravitz and Kidman, who's been wearing a rock on her left ring finger, are planning a party to announce their engagement, reps had no comment.

While vacationing in Hawaii over the holiday, Britney Spears spent plenty of time lounging in the sun, but she just couldn't resist her, um, workaholic ways. As she and an entourage of eight, including her 26-year-old brother Bryan, dined one night at the Four Seasons Resort's Beach Tree restaurant on the Big Island, the pop princess leapt up to give an impromptu performance. Backed by the house band, a contemporary Hawaiian music trio called the Beach Tree Boys, Spears belted out Bonnie Raitt's "Something to Talk About." That's just what the other diners were thinking.
