Hank Williams Jr.

Williams hasn't written many tunes better than "Waylon's Guitar," which features a squadron of electric guitarists emulating the late Waylon Jennings's honky-tonk-devil style. There are a number of other good songs on this rollicking disc. Williams resurrects the infectious 1969 Joe South hit "Games People Play," while "Why Can't We All Just Get a Long Neck" deftly uses Joey Miskulin's accordion to evoke Williams's zydeco roots and segues into Hank Sr.'s Cajun classic "Jambalaya." It wouldn't be a Hank Jr. album, though, without a boorish macho track, and here it's the condescending "Liquor to Like Her." But then again, Williams's fans aren't expecting him to be Dr. Phil.
