Jay-Z With his new CD The Black Album, hip-hop star Jay-Z, 34, says he is calling his recording career a wrap after seven years. So will he just be chilling out at the golf course now? Here's what he had to say.
ON HIS RETIREMENT PLANS "I've still got Rocawear and Roc-A-Fella Records. It's just [retirement] as a recording artist making solo albums. I just feel like it's time for me to move away from that. What more can I say as a solo artist?"
ON THE OTHER POTENTIAL CAREER OPTIONS "I was thinking about directing or acting, but I need to free up some time. Maybe in two or three years I'll go out to L.A."
ON TITLING HIS LATEST THE BLACK ALBUM "I heard that Prince had made an album called The Black Album. It was super-artistic. So I was going to make this album my artistic one."
ON POSSIBLY BUYING THE NEW JERSEY NETS "It's early, but we'll see what happens. I'm a huge sports fan and I've got a lot of connections to NBA players."
ON HIS OWN ATHLETIC CONDITIONING "I run a little bit, but I ain't Puff Daddy."
