British author Helen Fielding, 46, whose best-selling novel Bridget Jones's Diary was made into a hit 2001 movie, and TV writer Kevin Curran, 47, welcomed their first child, a son, Feb. 11 in L.A. The couple haven't named the baby yet....
Belgium's Prince Laurent, 40, and his wife, Princess Claire, 30, welcomed their first child, daughter Louise Sophie Mary, Feb. 6 in Brussels. The couple wed last April.
Actress Rosi Blasi, 31, who stars in the Lifetime series Strong Medicine, wed New York Giants fullback Jim Finn, 27, Feb. 14 on the Hawaiian island of Maui.
24's Kiefer Sutherland, 37, got six stitches in his face after he was roughed up in an L.A. barroom brawl Feb. 9. A rep for the actor said, "He was defending himself." Sutherland returned to the set of the hit FOX show the next day.
On Feb. 17 in Brooklyn, Jules Nasso, 51, a former business partner of Steven Seagal, 51, was sentenced to a year and a day in prison after admitting that he plotted to have the Mob shake down the action-film star. In June 2002, Nasso was indicted with 16 purported Gambino family members for scheming to demand kick-backs from Seagal for every movie he makes (PEOPLE, Dec. 9,2002). In the late 1980s Nasso and Seagal formed a production company and made films like 1990's Marked for Death and 1994's On Deadly Ground....
Singer Art Garfunkel, 62, paid $200 in fines after pleading guilty to marijuana possession Feb. 4 in Hurley, N.Y. Garfunkel was ticketed in January after the limo in which he was riding was pulled over for speeding (PEOPLE, Feb. 9, 2004). A rep for the singer did not return calls.
After 43 years together, Barbie has broken up with Ken. On Feb. 12 a rep said the two Mattel dolls "will always remain the best of friends" and wouldn't comment on the reason for the split, but rumors persist that Barbie recently hooked up with Blaine, a hunky Australian surfer doll.
Producer Robert F. Colesberry Jr., 57, whose credits include Mississippi Burning ('88), After Hours ('85) and the HBO series The Wire (in which he also had a small recurring role as a detective), died of complications from heart surgery Feb. 9 in Manhattan....
Stage actress Jan Miner, 86, best known for playing Madge, the manicurist in Palmolive TV ads, died of undisclosed causes Feb. 15 in Bethel, Conn.
