WHAT'S WITH THE RING
We couldn't help but notice the bling supermodel Gisele Bündchen was sporting on her left ring finger as she and boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio cuddled at the Feb. 26 Lakers-Kings game in L.A. Was the ring a Valentine's Day surprise from her sweetie? Sources tell me DiCaprio visited Beverly Boulevard's Neil Lane Jewelry on several occasions, "taking it all in," before ordering a custom-made diamond ring. He picked it up just over two weeks ago. A rep for the actor says the couple are not engaged, but it sure looks to us like things are getting serious.

'SYNC & SWING
Last week Justin Timberlake and his band got the pre-Oscar party scene off to a rocking start when he delivered a seven-song set at the Vanity Fair and Guess? jeans benefit on the roof above his hip West Hollywood restaurant Chi. As he alternated between keyboards and guitar, 'N Syncers Lance Bass and Joey Fatone boogied with Ellen DeGeneres, Dylan McDermott and Paris Hilton while Courteney Cox Arquette, in a black maternity top, watched from the sidelines. Cameron Diaz was missing in action and, by night's end, Timberlake was ensconced in a booth with his arm around another blonde. Not to worry—it was his mother, Lynn Harless.

DOMESTIC DIVA
These days, expectant mum Gwyneth Paltrow is more interested in cuisine than couture. "I feel great," says the actress, who's abandoned her macrobiotic diet in favor of cooking up more indulgent meals in the London flat she shares with her husband, Coldplay's Chris Martin. "I'm eating everything I'm not supposed to have, like sugar and flour and cheese," says Paltrow, whose baby is due this summer. "I cheat all the time. Heavily!" As for the Oscars, the 1999 Best Actress winner for Shakespeare in Love wasn't planning to watch the telecast. "I get so disconnected from American culture over here," says Paltrow. "By the time it's shown on TV, there's no excitement because you know who won."

FAST TAKES

Winona Ryder visited pawn-broker Yossi Dina's South Beverly-Wilshire Jewelry and Loan recently to unload an 18-karat gold Indian bracelet with emeralds, an 18-carat ruby necklace and two other pieces. Dina says the stash fetched "about $4,000."...

Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog) will play the head of the Secret Service in ABC's series The Secret Service....

Ben Stiller didn't like seeing his mother, Anne Meara, get a bath from Miranda on Sex in the City's final episode. Still, he says, "I was so wrapped up in the storyline that I was able to picture her as a character—not my mom. Thank God I never saw her [naked] when I was a kid." Meet the Fockers, his Meet the Parents sequel, begins filming in April, and Stiller says Barbra Streisand is close to signing up as his onscreen mom....

I bumped into Randy Jackson at The Grill Restaurant in Beverly Hills and asked him who he thinks will win American Idol. "We still have a ways to go," he told me, "but I'd say Fantasia [Barrino]—or someone else." Well, that narrows the field. Right?
