Casey Stratton

Newcomer Casey Stratton, 26, may be one of the boys, but his piano-based ballad style has more in common with such female artists as Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos. With a gender-bending instrument that defies the laws of puberty, Stratton can practically sing as high as those women too. The classically trained singer-songwriter-pianist truly has one of the most remarkable male voices to emerge in some time, soaring to countertenor heights on such tunes as the atmospheric "Ocean." His languid musical approach, though, is sometimes a bit too high-minded.
