Documentary filmmaker Rory Kennedy (A Boy's Life) and her husband, screenwriter Mark Bailey, both 35, are expecting their second child. Their daughter Georgia will turn 2 in September. Kennedy is the youngest of Ethel and Robert Kennedy's 11 children.
Tammy Faye Messner, 62, the ex-wife of former TV evangelist Jim Bakker, recently announced that she has inoperable lung cancer. Messner, who appeared on the reality show The Surreal Life, will soon begin chemotherapy in conjunction with holistic therapies.... Soul singer Aretha Franklin, 62, was admitted to a hospital March 20 with an undisclosed illness. Her rep said that Franklin is in stable condition, but would not reveal any more details.
On March 19 in L.A., actor Paul Reubens, 51, best known for playing Pee-Wee Herman, was sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor obscenity charge involving photos seized from the actor's collection in 2001. Prosecutors dropped a charge of child pornography. In a statement, the actor said he was glad to avoid "a costly circuslike trial."...
On March 22 in L.A., Michael Jackson sued Henry Vaccaro for more than $10 million, claiming that the New Jersey contractor is illegally selling private property belonging to Jackson, 45, and his family on the Internet (PEOPLE, March 15, 2004). Vaccaro, 63, obtained the items through a bankruptcy sale involving the singer's parents. Vaccaro could not be reached for comment....
On March 22 in Riverhead, N.Y., electrician Daniel Pelosi, 40, was indicted in the 2001 murder of millionaire Ted Ammon, who was discovered beaten to death at his East Hampton estate (PEOPLE, Nov. 19, 2001). Pelosi, who several months later married Ammon's widow (she died of cancer last August), has long maintained his innocence.
Louis-Alexandre Brisette, 21, a Canadian man accused of stalking model Claudia Schiffer, 33, was deported from Britain. Brisette was charged with harassment after appearing at the model's rural English estate several times in one week despite a formal caution to stay away from Schiffer.
Actress Mercedes McCambridge, 85, who won an Oscar for 1949's All the King's Men and was the demon's voice in '73's The Exorcist, died of natural causes March 2 in San Diego.
