EXPECTING
On April 8, The Alamo's Billy Bob Thornton, 48, and his girlfriend, Connie Angland, 39, announced they are expecting a child in October. The actor, who was divorced from Angelina Jolie last May, has three children from two previous marriages.
ENGAGED
Rocker Marilyn Manson, 35, popped the question to his girlfriend, burlesque artist Dita Von Teese, 31, March 22 in Los Angeles. A date has not yet been announced. This will be the first marriage for both.
I DO!
On April 10, Grammy winner Beck, 33, married actress Marissa Ribisi (Pleasantville), 29, in a civil ceremony in Santa Barbara, Calif. The bride, who is the twin sister of actor Giovanni Ribisi, is six months pregnant with the couple's first child.... On April 10 in L.A., Olympic gold medal swimmer Janet Evans, 32, married investment banker Billy Willson, 30. This is the first marriage for both.
IN TROUBLE
On April 7 in Lynnwood, Wash., police arrested James B. Speedy, 30, for stalking Avril Lavigne, 19, after he allegedly sent harassing letters and e-mails to the pop star. Speedy was charged with one felony count of stalking. Reps for Speedy and Lavigne could not be reached for comment.
LEGAL MATTERS
The Los Angeles Police Department announced on its Web site April 13 that it is investigating a new accusation of child abuse against Michael Jackson that allegedly took place in the late 1980s. Jackson, 45, has pleaded innocent to child-molestation charges involving another alleged victim in Santa Barbara county. An attorney for the pop star said, "It's a further manipulation of money-hungry lawyers trying to take advantage of my client."
UPDATE
The L.A. county coroner's office ruled March 26 that Robert Pastorelli's death was due to "acute cocaine-morphine toxicity." On March 8, Pastorelli's assistant found the Murphy Brown star, 49, dead in his Hollywood home.
ACCIDENT
On April 9 the parents of Grammy-winning artist "Weird Al" Yankovic were found dead in their Fallbrook, Calif., home, the victims of carbon-monoxide poisoning. Paramedics found Nick Yankovic, 86, and his wife, Mary, 81, after relatives reported the couple missing. A wood fire had been lit in the fireplace, but the chimney flue was closed.
DEATHS
Actress Carrie Snodgress, 57, who received an Oscar nod for 1970's Diary of a Mad Housewife, died April 1 of heart failure while awaiting a liver transplant.
