MEASURING MARY KATE
I'm praying for Mary-Kate Olsen
. Almost 10 years ago, I lost my sister to anorexia. I never understood what my sister went through with her eating disorder until now. It's a huge step that Mary-Kate checked herself in to treatment. I wish I could give her a big hug.
You're special in everyway, Mary-Kate. Your smile brings light to everyone. You just forgot to see yourself in the mirror and give that joy to you, too.
This just shows how strong and mature Mary-Kate is. It's not easy admitting a problem and then facing it.
I grew up with the Olsen twins and it doesn't surprise me that one of them has an eating disorder. I know the drastic pressures these girls have to face to be thin and beautiful. But Mary-Kate isn't alone. I've been battling anorexia and bulimia my whole life. It saddens me to see a girl whom I've looked up to have this horrible disease.
Mary-Kate's eating disorder is a byproduct of yet another child star surrounded by people more concerned about her next role than her health.
My heart aches for Mary-Kate and her family. She needs their unconditional love and support, not the harsh judgment of the public.

I was appalled to see your cover loudly proclaiming Mary-Kate's eating disorder. Seeing herself plastered on the cover of a magazine is the last thing she needs, since she's suffering from self-conscious issues. Have a little compassion! Be respectfully discreet in a situation like this, not intrusive.
MOORE OR LESS
Please tell Michael Moore, featured in your article "Burning Bush," thank you from four generations in Oregon. My mother and I cried through his movie Fahrenheit 9/11. My son, who is now out of the military, was just as moved, as was the rest of our family.
Michael Moore is a joke. Plain and simple. His film is nothing more than a cheap display of how Americans have failed to show loyalty to our country. I stand behind President Bush 110 percent.
If I read one more word about Moore and his farce of a movie, I'm going to throw up. What was President Bush to do when he heard the news about the attacks? Jump up in a frenzy and scare the young students he was reading to?
Can someone please explain to Moore that when you create lies and call them facts to sway people to your side, it's propaganda and not documentary?
My heart goes out to Lila Lipscomb for the loss of her son, but with her participation in Moore's film, she has degraded her son, an American hero, and the high price he paid for defending America. If we had to fight terrorism on American soil, Moore would be the coward running the other way with the money of his supporters falling from his pockets.

MATHES HEAVENLY MESSGE
Reading "Goodbye to a Poet," People's tribute to Mattie Stepanek, brought me to tears. I purchased a couple of his poetry books and used them in my classroom. Mattie was an angel and truly an inspiration and role model. Thank you, Mattie, for planting seeds and making a difference.

CLUTION UNDER QATH
In your book excerpt of My Life, by Bill Clinton, he states, "I wanted to be a good man, have a good marriage and children, have good friends, make a successful political life...." I thought an autobiography is supposed to be nonfiction!

I was pleased to see that your story on Mary-Kate Olsen
's eating disorder was informative without being judgmental or exploitative. I hope she gets the help she deserves and wish her the best.
