Caught in the Act!

• Paula Abdul, struggling to collect her big suitcase after touching down at Los Angeles International Airport following a New York visit. The American Idol judge attended a party in the Big Apple for designer pal Douglas Hannant.

• Eva Longoria, taking a private kitchen tour at Hollywood restaurant and nightspot Parc after feasting with five female friends. (Perhaps the ladies just wanted to see where their clay pot Chilean sea bass was prepared?) The group gossiped and laughed together over dinner, enjoying their girls' night out.

• What happens when two British powerhouses collide? A lot of enthusiastic chatter about acting, if you're Sir Anthony Hopkins and Sir Ian McKellen. The Sirs bumped into each other while dining at the NineThirty restaurant (in the W Hotel Westwood). "They were thrilled to see each other," a diner tells us. "Hopkins joined Ian McKellen at his table and they talked excitedly."

• Anne Heche and boyfriend James Tupper, watching as son Homer, 5, hit the playground at Los Angeles's Pan Pacific Park. Later, Tupper got in on a game of freeze tag with Homer (who was wearing a soccer uniform) and his friends while Heche and other moms cheered them on from a nearby perch.

• Taking a break from promoting his movie, Ben Affleck slipped inside Paris's famous Notre Dame cathedral at sunset for an unescorted 30-minute visit. An eyewitness tells us the actor-director took a long look at the church's celebrated rose window.

• A dressed-down Orlando Bloom, joking with his waiter at Vivoli Cafe in West Hollywood. When it came time to order, the actor teased: "You know what I'm having." Sounds like he's a regular!
