• Folks in New York's Soho neighborhood were treated to a double dose of star power: Heath Ledger, sharing a seat – and a casual chat – with Joaquin Phoenix on the street outside a neighborhood restaurant.

• Ashlee Simpson, sporting a black ski mask and matching black nail polish during a party at Miami Beach club Cameo. The singer was on hand to support Pete Wentz, who was hosting the bash along with his friend Travis McCoy (of Gym Class Heroes). Simpson didn't stray too far from her rocker beau: "They were making out and hugging," an eyewitness tells us.

• Less immersed in the Halloween holiday spirit were Christina Ricci and beau Adam Goldberg, trying to cut through New York's annual Halloween parade in Chelsea to make it home. Says an onlooker: "No costumes. No fun!"

• Meryl Streep, sharing a family dinner at Quarter Kitchen in San Diego's Ivy Hotel. On the menu: the eatery's famous lobster pot pie, plus desserts including donuts, s'mores and a baked Alaska. According to a fellow diner, "Streep looked incredible."

•Vanessa Minnillo feeding her boyfriend Nick Lachey a candy bar from her mouth during a party at Hollywood's S Bar. With one half of the treat dangling, the former veejay approached her beau, tilted her head near his as he ate the second half of the candy. Also at the party: Brody Jenner and pal Frankie Delgado – though onlookers reported no similar mouth-to-mouth candy feeding from them.

• Lindsay Lohan, keeping on the straight and narrow with a low-key Halloween night – a dinner with beau Riley Giles – at West Hollywood Italian eatery Il Sole. Their quiet celebration was still festive: Lohan ate the pumpkin ravioli, and the duo split the Halloween cookie platter for dessert.
