THREE QUESTIONS FOR ... KATE BECKINSALE

1. YOU PLAY ADAM SANDLER'S WIFE IN CLICK. WHAT'S THAT LIKE?
I didn't have to take him home, and I didn't have to yell at him about playing golf. It was a blissful marriage.

2. WHAT ABOUT WORKING WITH THE ECCENTRIC CHRISTOPHER WALKEN?
I remember my [7-year-old] daughter running into him in his costume and running back with the whites of her eyes showing, saying, "I've seen a man that I don't like."

3. IF YOU HAD YOUR OWN MAGIC REMOTE CONTROL, HOW WOULD YOU USE IT?
I've been a parent for seven years now—I'd press pause and take a nap.

HIDDEN HOUSE PETS

Thomas Haden Church embodies manly brawn while riding horses in his upcoming AMC western Broken Trail—however, the actor, 46, confesses to a penchant for more delicate creatures. "I have a ranch in Texas, but I don't have your standard macho ranch dog—I have five cats," says Church, whose miniseries airs June 25 and 26. "I think cats are regarded as feminine. [My costar] Robert Duvall was appalled. He was like, 'You don't have a dog?'" Meow! But the actor's choice of names may not increase his rancher cred. "My cats are all girls. They're named Twinkle, Honey, Kitty, Beans—because everything gives her gas—and Tyson, because her nose is real flat like Mike Tyson's." Not that he'll be calling out his feline friends any time soon: "After Duvall's reaction, I was like, 'Oh God, maybe I need [to stop] letting people know.'"

FREE ASSOCIATION with PATRICIA HEATON, coproducer of Netflix's film The Bituminous Coal Queens of Pennsylvania

Britney's baby troubles: My heart totally goes out to this girl. She does need to learn certain caretaking skills, but everybody has had a kid roll off the bed—and she has her every move documented.

Rosie O'Donnell to cohost The View: It was a bold move to put her on—it will be very interesting.... It would be more interesting if [Rosie and Star Jones Reynolds] were on together.

Madonna "crucifying" herself on tour: Sounds tired and desperate to me.

Paul McCartney splits from wife Heather Mills McCartney: It's hard to judge [other] people's marriages—unless somebody's surfing the net for young cheerleaders. I won't name names.
