The doctor who performed a cosmetic procedure last Friday on Donda West, the mother of rapper Kanye West, is facing scrutiny following West's death on Saturday from possible complications from the surgery.
The operation, performed by Dr. Jan Adams, lasted eight hours, twice as long as expected, reports TMZ.com, leading other doctors to speculate that something may have gone wrong during the procedure.
According to a separate report on CelebTV.com, the California Medical Board sought to revoke Adams's physician and surgeon's certificate this year following multiple DUI arrests in recent years.
TMZ also reports that another plastic surgeon recently refused to perform procedures on Donda West due to a health condition that allegedly made her susceptible to a heart attack.
Adams insists he did nothing wrong, and has characterized the other surgeon, Andre Aboolian, as "sleazy."
Donda West, 58, was brought into Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center on Saturday but died shortly after admittance. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
