Heath Ledger: Playing the Joker Was a Blast

Heath Ledger says it can be fun to play the bad guy sometimes – and few roles offer an actor as much guilty pleasure as Batman's nemesis, the Joker.
"He has zero empathy," Ledger, who plays the clown-like sociopath in the upcoming Batman movie The Dark Knight, tells MTV. "You'll just have to wait and see. It's the most fun I've had with a character and probably will ever have. The movie itself is far exceeding my expectations. I think it's going to be a really fun movie to watch."
The Australian actor, 28, nominated for an Academy Award for Brokeback Mountain, has another eclectic role forthcoming: He is one of seven actors portraying Bob Dylan in the upcoming film I'm Not There.
Ledger says he learned plenty about Dylan from his research, but that he wouldn't particularly want to meet the famously inscrutable musician. "There are some people that I admire greatly that I wish not to meet in my lifetime," he says. "I think he's best left in the shadows for me."
Should he bump into Dylan on the street, he adds, "I'm going to run in the other direction for sure."
