ACTION COMEDY

So many people can sigh and say "TGIF" at the end of a week, but it's hard to know with Sam (Bret Harrison), who just turned 21. He has a job at a home-improvement store, but—because of a pact his stupid parents made with the devil—he learns he'll now put in extra hours as Satan's bounty hunter, chasing down escaped souls using special weapons (including a Dirt Devil that sucks up fire). The humor is smart, sly and offbeat. I like the DMV worker with horns. As Satan, Ray Wise is a sarcastic suit with a shark's smile: the corporate mentor from hell.

CANE
10 P.M. | CBS

Big dynastic drama about a Cuban emigre family who grew rich in Florida farming sugarcane and distilling rum. Jimmy Smits (with Paola Turbay) plays the adopted son with the vision to steer the family through oncoming storms.
