William Shatner isn’t beaming up for the new Star Trek movie – and he’s not pleased about it.

"How could you not put one of the founding figures into a movie that was being resurrected? That doesn’t make good business sense to me,” Shatner, 76, told Extra at a signing for his book, Star Trek Academy: Collision Course, on Tuesday.

"I've become even more popular than I was playing Captain Kirk. I'm good box office and I get publicity," added the Boston Legal star. "But, they are going in a different direction and it’ll be a wonderful film."

The cast of the latest Star Trek movie, a prequel directed by JJ Abrams, includes Shatner’s former costar Leonard Nimoy, Heroes actor Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana and Winona Ryder as the mother of young Spock.
