Jessica Alba confirmed Monday that she's in talks to star on Broadway in a revival of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow – the role that Madonna originated in the 1988 Broadway production.

"Well, there's a rumor. Yeah, I've been asked to do it," Alba, 26, said on Live with Regis & Kelly Monday.

She added later, "But this is just talk. It's not really happening yet. I'm freaked out!"

Should she sign on for the role of Karen, the job would mark Alba's Broadway debut. "I would be honored to do it," she said, adding, perhaps a bit coyly, "I don't know if audiences would even want to see me on Broadway."

Alba said taking the theater role next summer might actually be "perfect timing," if a possible strike by the Screen Actors Guild materializes, precluding SAG actors temporarily from doing film work.

Alicia Silverstone played Karen in a 2006 revival of the play in Los Angeles.

Alba also spoke on Monday about her experience shooting The Love Guru, an upcoming hockey movie with Mike Myers and Justin Timberlake.

Asked if Timberlake is good on the ice, she replied, "I heard he's really good. I mean, I don't go and, like, watch him. You know, that would be weird. 'Hey, I just came by to watch you guys play.' Creepy!"
