Denise Richards's Mom Succumbs to Cancer

Denise Richards's mother, Joni, passed away in Los Angeles Friday after a long battle with cancer, the star's rep, Jill Fritzo, tells PEOPLE.

According to Fritzo, Richards has no plans to release a statement, but confirms that her mother was surrounded by family when she died.

In February, the actress told PEOPLE her mother's struggle with cancer was "hard," and that she was helping to raise money for Houston's M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where her mom was being treated at the time.

Richards was scheduled to cohost The View early next week, but has postponed her appearance, according to a source.
