• Carrie Underwood, singing along during the Spice Girls's San Diego concert. And the Carnival Ride singer was in the power seat – hanging next to American Idol creator and current Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller.

• Kate Hudson offering some (practical) fashion advice to Matthew McConaughey's model girlfriend Camila Alves during a party at New York's Gramercy Park hotel to celebrate Dolce & Gabbana's men's fragrance campaign. A source tells us that, at the end of the night, Hudson approached Alves (who was putting on her coat) and popped her collar before braving the cold.

• Ben Affleck and John Mayer, bonding at a holiday party at One restaurant in New York. Besides talking to their publicists, and each other, the guys snacked on chicken teriyaki skewers while guests sipped Godiva cocktails. Meanwhile, the next stop for some guests was a trip to the Spotted Pig, where REM singer Michael Stipe was dining with friends.

• Heartthrob Ricky Martin, explaining to his fans how to avoid security and sneak into the back door of the Hotel Hyatt Parc Vendome in Paris. The gracious star posed for photos with his fans once they made it inside the hotel.
