Rock star Eddie Van Halen's home in Los Angeles was hit by a mudslide after a water main broke Monday morning. The guitarist, on the road with his reunited band, was notified about the mishap by telephone.

The flooding occurred about 1 a.m. when an air valve on the side of a 26-inch water main broke, releasing thousands of gallons of water and dumping mud and debris into Van Halen's pool and onto Coldwater Canyon Avenue.

Sandbags placed by firefighters prevented the water from entering the 52-year-old musician's home, KNBC-TV reports. –Gerri Miller
