Veteran news anchor Forrest Sawyer was injured in a helicopter crash in Africa last week while on location for a Travel Channel series, ET Online reports.

The chopper carrying former ABC anchorman Sawyer, 58, and his production crew crashed into Lake Natron in northeast Tanzania. While there were no fatalities, the pilot had to be airlifted to Nairobi for treatment, while the show's producer remains hospitalized in Johannesburg with a broken hip.

"The Travel Channel would like to recognize the individual acts of heroism of the production crew and Forrest Sawyer," network president Pat Younge said in a statement.
