Ricky Martin to Be Feted by San Juan Festival | Ricky Martin
Ricky Martin, who celebrated his 36th birthday Christmas Eve, will receive an honor in his native country of Puerto Rico next year, it was announced Friday.

The San Sebastian Street Festival, which begins Jan. 17 and is a wild multi-day event in Old San Juan, is dedicating its celebration to the singer, in recognition not just of his show business career, but of his charitable work as well.

In 2004, Martin founded the Ricky Martin Foundation, whose mission statement reads: "The Ricky Martin Foundation advocates for the well being of children around the globe in critical areas such as social justice, education and health."

The international star issued a statement saying that he is thrilled to receive the honor from the organizers of the 38th annual festival.
