Jessica's Beau Says He's Focused on the Game
Now that he's back from his romantic Mexican getaway with Jessica Simpson, Dallas quarterback Tony Romo swears he's got his head in the game.
"For me, it's about just going out here and giving everything I've got to try to win this game this weekend," he said in a Dallas Morning News video clip. That "game," of course, is their first-round playoff match-up against the New York Giants.
As for the suggestion that Simpson, 27, is a distraction for the young quarterback, Romo seems unfazed. "I don't care about perception," he said. "People like to believe everything they read and hear and stuff, but I'm content in my own skin." (Still, Simpson has announced she will not be attending the game.)
The 27-year-old Pro-Bowler said he'll have no regrets come Sunday, win or lose. "I try to do two things in my life," he said in the clip. "One is to work really hard at football and the other is to try and be a good person. If I do those two things, I can sleep at night, always – no matter what the outcome is.
Another celeb who has Romo's back? His former flame Sophia Bush.
"The thing that amuses me is because, at the moment, he's dating a celebrity, people want to say that he's less of an athlete," the One Tree Hill star said at the FUZE/ Resolution Slenderize bash in Hollywood Wednesday night. "But I don't know a whole lot of athletes that have a record like Tony's."
(For what it's worth, Bush also insists she and the NFL star "never dated." "I care about him so much, but we had that moment where it was like, 'We're going to be friends, I think,'" she said. "You know, when you realize that you're looking for different things?")
Now that Romo's relationship with Simpson is heating up, "people need to give them a break," Bush added. "They're very well suited for each other. They're very happy, and that makes me happy for him."
