DATING IS "SO COMPLICATED!"
Lucky at awards shows, but is Carrie Underwood unlucky in love? The 24-year-old country crooner—who snagged three American Music Awards on Nov. 18—admits she wouldn't mind some better dating karma. "It's so complicated," Underwood told Scoop at Enchanted's L.A. premiere Nov. 17. "I wish there was some kind of rule book that somebody had.... 'Here, celebrity dating rules. Right here, go!'" After being linked with Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo earlier this spring, Underwood has been spotted in New York City with Gossip Girl hottie Chace Crawford. The singer was coy about her current romantic status, but said, "The guys now versus the guys that were might be a little better. But guys are guys, no matter what they do or what walk of life they come from. I've never really had that much luck with them." Still, she remains a hopeless romantic: "If you really care about someone, you make the time."
84 MINUTES IN JAIL ... SHE'S READY FOR A "NEW START"
On Nov. 15 Lindsay Lohan checked into a Lynwood jail to serve her minimum 24-hour sentence as part of her plea deal in two DUI cases. How long was her stint behind bars? 84 minutes! According to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, Lohan, 21, turned herself in at 10:30 a.m. and was released at 11:54 a.m. The jail has a policy of releasing nonviolent offenders early due to overcrowding. "Lindsay has been given a new start and will put this behind her," Lohan's mom, Dina, tells Scoop. Lohan and her boyfriend, fellow Cirque Lodge alumus Riley Giles, arrived in New York City Nov. 18 and were scheduled to spend Thanksgiving with the Lohan clan on Long Island, N.Y. And when she returns to L.A., she'll pick up the search for a new home. She has been spotted looking at apartments and a four-bedroom house once owned by Liza Minnelli. "She just wants a new place to stay in Los Angeles," says a source. "Away from the Chateau and her old life."

"We shoot on the streets of New York so there's really nothing we can do," she said at the launch of the Curél/American Red Cross' Helping Hand Wall.
DEFENDING HER MARRIAGE
Culinary queen Rachael Ray, 39, has slammed reports that she and her husband of two years, John Cusimano, 40, are having marital problems. "John and I are happily, grotesquely, blissfully married," Ray said at a Nov. 14 taping of her show. Of her husband, a lawyer and lead singer of the band The Cringe, she said: "I would never be dumb enough to give up free legal advice, a rock star, a great cook and a handsome guy, at that."

CAN'T DRIVE HER KIDS
Britney Spears is banned from driving Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, per a court ruling on Nov. 16, a source confirms to Scoop. Her lawyer Sorrell Trope says, "Recent aggressive actions by individuals ... have resulted in her decision to take certain security measures for the protection of her children." One interpretation? Photographers are the reason Spears is driven to distraction. On Nov. 8 she allegedly ran a red light as her sons slept in the backseat (inset), and on Nov. 14 she rolled over a cameraman's foot, raising concerns about her ability to navigate amid flashing lightbulbs. Her other vehicular drama? Louis Vuitton won a lawsuit in a French court accusing her of unauthorized use of its logo in the 2005 video "Do Somethin'." The court ordered that the video no longer be aired.

'Every girl goes through that phase of battling themselves'
Between takes on the set of her new film Greta, out next year, Hilary Duff, 20, tells PEOPLE's Ryan Pienciak about her brushes with greatness, her latest musical obsessions and her newest guilty pleasure.
Greta is a coming-of-age story. Can you relate to a teenager?
Every girl goes through that phase of battling themselves: "Who am I? Where do I fit in?" [She] has that need for attention, doing shocking things for attention. It's interesting for me, because I'm 20, but I've grown up a little faster than most 20-year-olds.
What did you do after a long day of filming?
Usually I was exhausted, so I'd make a salad or chicken. I love to bake. I just learned how to make cheesecake. It's not good for you, but it's pretty amazing!
You just performed at MTV's Video Music Awards Latin America, but what are you listening to?
I'm into Feist. The new Dashboard Confessional. But a lot of old stuff: I listen to Morrissey all the time.
What's your relationship with costar Evan Ross, Diana Ross's son?
I met him about a year ago in L.A. We've hung out, have a lot of the same friends, so it was nice to have him on-set.
Did Diana Ross visit the set in New Jersey?
She came on a day we were filming on a boat. She got on a boat that was trailing ours. She was watching and waving. She videotaped some of it, which was so cute!
