Thank you for setting the record straight that Jessica Simpson

Ethan Hawke said about his breakup with Uma Thurman, "It's unfair when one person's career is taking off and the other is really suffering." He is such a crybaby. What's wrong with being happy about his wife's success?
After all the criticism of beautiful Jennifer Love Hewitt's size-2 curves, why wasn't anything said about Nick Lachey
's expanding waistline? Why the double standard?
I was happy to read about lifesaving-animals since I'm adapting to a diagnosis of seizure disorder. After a seizure last month, I awoke to find my Boston terriers Fala and Fang frantically giving me their version of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation; both were licking the inside of my mouth, and when I'd start to fall asleep, they blew air down my throat. I asked a neurologist if he'd ever heard of this, and he said yes, animals seem to know instinctively what needs to be done. Needless to say, I feel very secure with my two angels watching over me.

I'd like to tell Caroline Kennedy that she heard right; turning 50 is better than turning 80. But just so everyone who has recently turned 80 doesn't fall into a depression, I'd like to let your readers know that when I turned 80, I went skydiving for the first time. I know I wouldn't have considered it when I was 50; too many obligations for one thing. But at 80, I thought, "Oh, what the hell!" Fifty was good, but 80 isn't all that bad.

I was happy to see you shine a light on face blindness, a condition that I have wrestled with my entire life. Like others with this disorder, I have managed to cover it up to a certain degree. But in many cases people just think I am stuck-up or self-absorbed for not remembering them. I have learned certain tricks to help me cope, but it is still painful to ask someone who they are and find out that you just had lunch with them the day before. I always tell myself: There are much worse afflictions a person could have. So I have learned to live with it.

I couldn't be happier for Jennifer Lopez
. It seems she's finally found the happiness she deserves!

Though most readers were heartened by our story about three people who give away at least half of their money, others wondered if such generosity was shortsighted. Writes Karin Munger via e-mail: "It seems unlikely these philanthropists are taking steps to protect themselves from financial disaster." And Djuna Osborne of Johnson City, Tenn., notes that "Edorah Frazer's philanthropy means she is unable to support her daughter's interest in gymnastics." On the positive side, the Boston-area nonprofit Bolder Giving, which offers advice about donating money, reports that the week our article ran, hits to their Web site jumped from 50 to 225 per day.
In our Dec. 24 issue we should have said that Dustin Nguyen's wife, Angela, was riding in an Acura when she was paralyzed in a crash.
