Usher's father, Usher Raymond III, passed away at an Atlanta hospital on Friday, the R&B star's rep confirms to PEOPLE.
The cause of death was not immediately known and Usher was unavailable for comment.
The funeral will take place this week at the Taylor funeral home chapel in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press was first to report the news.
Usher and his wife Tameka recently celebrated the birth of their son, Usher Ramond V.
