Mark Ronson says his experience at the Grammys on Sunday night was a hungry one.

"It was a bit of a long day," the award winning producer told PEOPLE at London's H&M store opening Wednesday. "All my awards were in the beginning of the day before you see the glamorous thing on TV so I was sitting with no food and water next to my mum for nine hours. It was just like Yom Kippur, the Jewish holiday where you have to fast."

Ronson who produced Amy Winehouse's Grammy-winning album Back to Black, picked up the producer of the year trophy at Sunday's show, then flew to the U.K., for a surprise gig at the high street chain's new flagship store opening in central London. (Also there: a bevy of fashionistas, as well as rock offspring Kelly Osbourne and Peaches Geldof, who took to the DJ booth later in the evening.)
