Eminem – who starred in the semi-autobiographical 8 Mile – is set to publish his life story, complete with photographs, hand-drawn sketches, lyrics and journal notes from the Detroit-born rapper.

The memoir, entitled Eminem: The Way I Am, is scheduled to hit shelves in the U.K. this October, according to Ian Preece, a senior commissioning editor at Orion Books.

"Everyone has their own take on Eminem," he said in a statement to British music journal NME. "Because of where he is from, people think they know where he is at, what kind of person he really is. This book cuts through all that and gets to the source."

But Eminem's camp said the project was still a work-in-progress, and blasted the London-based publisher for leaking the news.

"There is no firm release date scheduled, although it is anticipated to arrive in the latter part of this year," a rep told MTV News. "It's unfortunate that someone who does not have intimate knowledge of [the project] felt compelled to jump the gun on announcing it."

A spokeswoman for Orion admitted to PEOPLE on Friday that "there has been some discussion about the timing of the announcement."

The 35-year-old Eminem (aka Marshall Mathers) has been keeping a low profile following his recovery from a bout of pneumonia earlier this year.
