Rihanna, 20, has made a plea on behalf of Lisa Gershowitz Flynn, 41, a New York City leukemia patient and mother of two. Last November Flynn was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, an aggressive form of cancer, and was told she needed to find a bone marrow donor match. The Grammy winner, who works with DKMS—the largest marrow donor center—told PEOPLE, "When I heard about Lisa's plight, my heart broke." Since the singer intervened Feb. 20, nearly 3,000 potential donors have come forward. "For Rihanna to even be thinking about helping others and putting herself out there when she is so busy with her career is tremendous," says the mom of Michael, 5, and Alexandra, 3.

A Feb. 22 formal response argues the comedian simply made "overstatements of opinion for comic effect." ... Mischa Barton, 22, was formally charged in Los Angeles Feb. 26 with misdemeanor DUI, marijuana possession and driving without a license, stemming from her arrest in West Hollywood last December. A rep for the actress could not be reached for comment.
