The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus's director, Terry Gilliam told the BBC that filming was back on schedule in Vancouver, and he hopes that the movie will "touch people's hearts and souls as Heath was able to do."
The movie's producers added in a statement that the film would preserve Ledger's entire performance intact with no modification or alterations through the use of digital technology.
"I am delighted that Heath's brilliant performance can be shared with the world," Gilliam said while also expressing gratitude to the actors who have stepped in to help complete the film.
Actors Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell are taking on different aspects of Ledger's character Tony.
All work on the production had been suspended in January after Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment from an overdose of prescription drugs.
Last week, it was revealed that Ledger left everything he owned to his parents and sisters. His will was filed and last updated in April 2003 in Australia before the actor's relationship with Michelle Williams and the birth of their daughter, Matilda.
Ledger's family quickly issued a statement saying, "Matilda is our absolute priority and Michelle is an is an integral part of our family. They will be taken care of and that's how Heath would want it to be."
