Kid Rock wants to grill up some food Tuesday at an Atlanta-area Waffle House where he is expected for a benefit – but first he'll have to do something about his long hair.
"He said he wanted to get on the grill, so we're going to let him," said David Tharp, manager of the Waffle House in Duluth, Ga., where the singer will appear for two hours to cook and serve. "If he's going to be on the grill, he'll definitely have to wear the proper attire. He'll have to restrain his hair."
Tharp and his staff are looking forward to the visit from Kid Rock, who was enthusiastic about coming in and cooking for charity
. All donations the restaurant gets during his two-hour stint will go to the Nicholas House Foundation, a transitional housing shelter that helps homeless families in the Metro Atlanta area. Kid Rock has a concert Tuesday night at the nearby Gwinett Center.
The rock star's name was first linked with the Waffle House in October, when he was arrested
after an altercation with another diner at a Waffle House in nearby Atlanta. That case, in which Kid Rock (real name Bob Ritchie), pleaded not guilty
to battery, is still pending.
Tharp said fans can come in and get photos taken with the rocker and get his autograph, but the musician told managers he wanted to cook and wait tables.
"He's going to be interacting with the customers," Tharp said. "Three quarters of the restaurant will be open for people who just want to come in a dine. They might be a little surprised when they see who's waiting on them."
