One-hit wonder Tay Zonday, the booming baritone behind Chocolate Rain, has won an award for his viral video.

Zonday, 25, was one of 12 winners of the second annual YouTube Video Awards, voted by viewers of the online user-made clips of 2007.

"It's the new Emmys," Zonday, 25, said of the video-sharing site's awards in a telephone interview with the Associated Press. "It's the next Oscars. The next People's Choice Awards. It'll be interesting to see what happens five years, 10 years [from now]."

Previously unknown, Zonday's enigmatic song was seen around the nation after critical mass was reached via YouTube. TV appearances followed, culminating in his February appearance on singer Lily Allen's new TV show in Britain.

One viral that didn't come out tops was The Obama Girl. Performed by Amber Lee Ettinger, I Got A Crush On Obama was nominated in the political category and notched up more than 7.1 million online views.

Another loser was theatrical Chris Crocker, whose tears of pain over Britney Spears's roller-coaster life saw him tapped in the commentary category. There winner there was Michael Buckley, who did an slap-down of online faker Lonelygirl15.
