He's played the real-life gunman Jesse James and the fictitious assassin Mr. Smith, and now Brad Pitt may portray the genuine British explorer Col. Percy Harrison Fawcett, who disappeared during a 1925 search for a vanished civilization in the Amazon.
Paramount Pictures, on behalf of Pitt's Plan B production company, has purchased New Yorker writer David Grann's manuscript of Lost City of Z, to be published in book form in February 2009, reports Variety.
Pitt, 44, will produce, as well as potentially star. Until then, his upcoming movies (before the camera) are the Coen brothers' Burn After Reading, due in September, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, in December.
