"This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100 percent committed to either," said Slash, one of four founding band members, in a statement Tuesday. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."
Weiland's problems include a recent stint in rehab, and last month's charge of driving under the influence of drugs after an arrest in Los Angeles in November.
Weiland issued his own statement to EW.com, saying: "Slash’s comment regarding my commitment, I have to say it is a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth. … that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time … personally speaking, I choose to look forward to the future and performing with a group of friends I have known my entire life, people who have always had my back."
Weiland plans to tour this summer with his previous band, The Stone Temple Pilots, whose last performance with Weiland was the year the band broke up in 2002. The tour is expected to begin with the Rock on the Range festival on May 17 and more dates are to be announced at a press conference on April 7th, says Rolling Stone.com.
