Chris Evert showed off the diamond on her left ring finger to Oprah Winfrey on Tuesday's show – and even Oprah was impressed.
"Let's see the rock," the show host demanded of tennis champ, who was talking about her close friendship with fellow net star (and costar on Tuesday's Oprah), Martina Navratilova.
Flashing the ring, Evert, who is engaged to pro golfer Greg Norman, said, "It's pretty. It's not gaudy. It's beautiful."
"It's big," said Winfrey, who quickly added, "It's not too big for your finger." Replies Evert: "I have little hands."
No wedding date was discussed. Evert, 54, and Norman, 53, announced their intention to marry last fall, after both had split from their spouses the previous year – Evert from her husband of 18 years, skiing champ Andy Mill, and Norman from his wife of 25 years, Laura.
"We like to be with each other," Norman told Golf magazine. "We enjoy each other's company immensely"
Only slightly expanding up on that for Winfrey, Evert said that she and Norman had found a "connection." When asked by Winfrey whether she worried about getting re-married so soon, Evert replied, "At our age, over 50 ... It's not like you're 18. Both of us have lived long enough to know."
Evert also mentioned that she and Norman were joining forces to add a tennis component to his 60 to 100 golf courses. "It was his idea," she said. "A nice match."
