Britney Spears Court Commissioner Gets Top Judge Honor

The family law commissioner overseeing Britney Spears's divorce and custody case is getting a top judge award this week from his alma mater.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon, who on Jan. 4 awarded Kevin Federline sole custody of the ex-couple's two young sons (Spears has since started seeing the boys again), will be honored as "Outstanding Judicial Officer of 2008" by the Southwestern Law School Alumni Association at its 21st annual awards reception on Thursday in Los Angeles.

Gordon, a Southwestern Law School adjunct professor since 1990, has also been a county prosecutor, a police detective, a legal specialist for the U.N.'s International Criminal Tribunal, and an instructor for various law enforcement agencies including the FBI.– Howard Breuer
