“I'm still promoting the new album (Discipline) right now,” she said, “but we'll be getting into rehearsals in about a month and then start touring," Jackson says.
This Saturday, Jackson will receive the Vanguard Award at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's 19th Annual Media Awards (Jennifer Aniston and Charlize Theron are past award recipients).
The award will be presented by Ellen DeGeneres, a personal favorite of Jackson’s.
“I absolutely adore her,” she said. “She’s smart. She’s funny. She’s fun to be around. I really enjoy her.”
After two disappointing albums – 2004’s Damita Jo and 2006’s 20 Y.O. – Jackson has returned to the top of the charts with Discipline, her sixth No. 1 album.
Her next goal? Broadway. "I just want to do a musical that touches on everything-something that's funny and dramatic, but definitely a musical."
