"Farina was very apologetic and cooperative with officers," police said, reports New York's Daily News. The actor, 64, was released on $35,000 and promptly issued a statement.
"I apologize to anyone and everyone that I have caused any embarrassment or inconvenience to," said Farina, the Associated Press reports. "It is my own stupidity to find myself in this embarrassing situation."
Farina, who currently stars with Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher in What Happens in Vegas, told police he simply forgot he had the weapon with him. He was charged with suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon.
Because the gun was not registered, the charges were upgraded to a felony.
