Scarlett Johansson, 23, and Ryan Reynolds, 31, sure know how to make up. Less than a month after The Boston Herald reported that the couple of one year were spotted arguing on a Boston street, the pair revealed that they're engaged. "They're both thrilled," the actress' rep tells Scoop. Johansson, who once said people aren't "monogamous creatures by nature," debuted her engagement ring, a 3-carat, round-cut diamond set on a gold band, at the Met Gala in New York City on May 5 (For more on the gala, see page 110). So how did Johansson know that Reynolds, currently filming The Proposal in Boston, was "the one?" Well, she once said she would marry, "when I decide I want to have children with somebody." The two have had their share of high-profile romances. In 2006 Reynolds ended his engagement to Alanis Morissette and Johansson broke up with Josh Hartnett. But now, says her Lost in Translation director Sofia Coppola, "Scarlett seems happy."
JEN WHO? IT'S ALL ABOUT JOHN'S NEW 'DO!
Forget Jennifer Aniston—for now. (That's sooo last week!) John Mayer, 30, has moved on to a new love: his hair. "I want everyone to know how important this haircut is," he said. In fact he challenged Scoop readers to write haikus about his new 1980s-inspired mane: "No one can do it!" Well, check out the work of People.com readers.
JEN'S FAMOUS DOG
She may be the movie star, but at Miami's Mandarin Oriental hotel Jennifer Aniston's corgi-terrier mix Norman is a celeb too. When he wasn't playing with kids at the hotel's early Cinco de Mayo bash on May 4, the pup posed for photos with fans!

PARIS'S MOM APPROVES OF BENJI
Paris Hilton's boyfriend-of-more-than-two-months, Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, 29, has received the stamp of approval from Paris's mom, Kathy. "He's such a nice, down-to-earth, family person," Kathy told Scoop May 2 at the Race to Erase MS Gala in L.A. "I've never seen her so happy." Added Paris, 27: "I'm very in love. This is the real deal."
DID LINDSAY STEAL A COAT?
SHE'S GOTTEN 'UGLY'
Fashion feuds aside, Lohan will appear on the May 22 finale of Ugly Betty, as well as five episodes next season. Lohan, who filmed her first scene May 3, will play Betty's former high school classmate—a "mean girl," says costar Michael Urie. "America [Ferrera] requested she be on time and professional," says a source, adding Lohan arrived early.
Lindsay Lohan has found herself at the center of yet another feud: She's sparring with Masha Markova, 22, a Columbia University student who has accused Lohan, 21, of taking the blond mink coat she wore to a party attended by Lohan at New York City club 1Oak during the early hours of Sat., Jan. 26. The coat was returned to Markova by 1Oak several days later, only after she spotted photos of Lohan wearing it and complained to the club. While Lohan's rep didn't comment, a 1Oak rep told Scoop, "[Markova] misplaced her coat. We returned it. End of story." Still, Markova, who sat next to Lohan at the bash, hired lawyer Merrill R. Cohen, who says they're considering suing Lohan to make amends and pay for damages. "There was a rip and a couple of stains, so she had it cleaned, which apparently Lindsay didn't."
'EMBARRASSED' BY DRUG BUST
CSI star Gary Dourdan, 41, has apologized to friends and fans for his April 28 arrest in Palm Springs, Calif., for alleged drug possession. "Obviously I am embarrassed to find myself in this situation and I am profoundly grateful to everyone for their support," Dourdan told Scoop. Police said Dourdan appeared to be asleep in his car—which was parked on the wrong side of the street after he attended the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival—when they found suspected cocaine, heroin, Ecstasy and prescription drugs. An arraignment is scheduled for May 28. Dourdan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley tells Scoop that her client may be able to take "drug [education] classes" to clear his record if he is formally charged with drug possession and pleads guilty or no contest (though Dourdan told a friend that the drugs were not his). In the meantime Dourdan is back at work on what a source says will be his final season of CSI. "He's been really busy," says Holley, "focusing on work."
THIS WEEK'S AMERICAN IDOL BUZZ
Brooke's Surprise: A Hit Album!
On May 2, just two days after Idol contestant Brooke White was voted off the show, her 2006 album Songs from the Attic was dusted off and quickly cracked the Top 15 on the iTunes list of Top 100 Pop Albums. Great for her, right? But the ousted Idol had no idea it was being released. "Wow, that's very cool," she told Scoop, "but it was put out without my knowledge." The album includes covers and several original songs written and sung by White for the Los Angeles-based indie label New Millennium Records Group. "It's great for the music but it's an awkward situation," she says. Tim Simms, White's former manager, who owns the label, says it's simply a matter of miscommunication. "Our agreement was that after she was off the show I would rerelease the album," Simms told Scoop. "She was not aware of the release date. She was busy and I just couldn't reach her to give her a heads-up."

"I'm trying to score tickets to the premiere, but [Calista] doesn't return my calls. I'm begging. I ask every day"

5 SECRETS REVEALED!
INSIDE THE GOSSIP GIRL CAST'S PRIVATE LIVES!
1 ARE BLAKE & LEIGHTON FEUDING?
Cast mates rushed to the actresses' defense after New York magazine reported Lively (left) and Meester "avoid each other like the plague" on the set. "It's B.S.," says Ed Westwick. Adds Penn Badgley: "They get along famously." So what's the real deal? "They don't hate each other," says an insider. "They're just different. Leighton has her own crowd, which isn't Blake's scene at all."
2 ARE BLAKE & PENN DATING?
Badgley escorted Lively to a party after the Met gala in New York City—but played coy when asked if they're just friends. "I can't say and I won't," he said. "People can speculate all they want." Well, a source spotted Badgley, 21, and Lively, 20, getting cozy April 30 between scenes. "He was touching her and hugging her. He even kissed her shoulder."
3 WHAT'S UP WITH CHACE'S LOVE LIFE?
Sure, he got flirty with a mystery brunette at N.Y.C.'s Azza lounge April 27, but word is that no one has truly captured Crawford's heart since his split earlier this year from Carrie Underwood. "He's focused on his career and hangs with his friends right now," a friend tells Scoop.
4 IS LEIGHTON HOOKING UP WITH A CO-STAR?
She partied with actor Sebastian Stan—who once appeared in a GG episode—in Las Vegas May 3. "They were definitely together," said an eyewitness. "But it seemed more of a fun vacation than a romance."
5 CONNOR PAOLO TALKS ABOUT HIS CHARACTER COMING OUT
The actor, 17, learned that his character, Eric, is gay from producers last month.
YOUR INITIAL REACTION?
I didn't see it coming, but that's the point. I wasn't uncomfortable with it.
WERE YOU NERVOUS?
It's the producers giving me more screen time and a chance to prove myself as an actor. I want to do justice to the character. It is simply another character development.
ARE YOU DATING ANYONE?
I've had a girlfriend for eight months. I've brought her by the set a lot so she's met the cast and been indoctrinated into our family.
