As the ladies of Sex and the City basked in the glitz and glamour of their world premiere, actress Minnie Driver was just around the corner, playing to a much smaller crowd.

The singer-songwriter – who's awaiting a world premiere of her own, the birth of her first child – took to the stage at the intimate Art's Theatre in London's Leicester Square to perform songs from her second album, Seastories.

Dressed in a one-shouldered black dress, the six-months-pregnant Riches star went on at 8:45 p.m., about 15 minutes behind schedule. "Sorry I'm late," she told the crowd. "I had to pee. I always have to pee at the moment."

The 38-year-old has kept mum about the identity of the baby's father – but she chatted openly with the crowd about the real-life inspiration for her songs. (Driver also joked that she was merely "famous for being pregnant.") And, as she played, she regularly tapped her bump in time with the music.

"I write [songs] in 'splurts,' " she said. "Like hitting a ketchup bottle, eventually something will come out – splat."

For her encore, Driver performed "Ruby Adeline," which she wrote as a serenade for a pregnant friend. "This is for all the pregnant ladies in the house," she said, "for anyone else who's knocked up."
