Daughter Apple turns four on Wednesday, and the 35-year-old actress has been hard at work arranging a party in London.
"She wants a piñata, which, in England, is not as easy to find as you might think," the Iron Man star recently told Live with Regis and Kelly. "And a bouncy castle and princess fairy paint."
Over the top? Turns out both parties pale in comparison to the bash Paltrow's own mother used to throw.
When Gwyneth turned three, mom Blythe Danner treated her to a full production of The Wizard of Oz, recreated by actor friends David Cryer (American Gigolo), Ken Howard (ITALIC "Michael Clayton"]) and Rene Auberjonois (Batman Forever).
"They did the whole Wizard of Oz," Danner told PEOPLE at Monday's ICP Infinity Awards in New York. "That was kind of spectacular."
And while Danner won't be able to join in the fun for Apple's bash, she couldn't be prouder of her daughter's happy home life with husband Chris Martin.
"She's an extraordinary mother," said the 65-year-old actress. "Her first allegiance is for her children."
