05/29/2008 AT 10:45 AM EDT
"Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people," Stone, 50, said in the statement, the Associated Press reports. "I am willing to take part in the relief work of China's earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people."
The politically active actress, who is also a face for Christian Dior, made the statement via the fashion brand, which is pulling all ads featuring Stone in China.
"In light of Sharon Stone's inappropriate comments and their negative impact, Dior China has decided to withdraw [her ads] immediately and stop using Sharon Stone's image in any advertising, marketing and commercial activities," the company said.
