COMEDY
This British import gives off the sordid yet frothy vibe of Sex and the City retooled for a London hooker. Which is weird. Luckily, the show is completely given over to Billie Piper's striking performance as Belle, a working woman who knows the ropes. Piper—who has Denise Richards' wide mouth and a levelheaded pertness that suggests, of all people, Rachael Ray—plays Belle as more sensible than sensual, from time to time admitting to a deeper loneliness. The show, occasionally kinky but seldom erotic, doesn't seem real—but Belle does.
