HE'S GOING TO BE A DAD!
A year and a half after telling PEOPLE, "I want to be a father so badly," Clay Aiken
, 29, is finally getting his wish. In August the former substitute teacher will welcome a child with music producer Jaymes Foster, 50—with whom he worked on Idol
in 2003—through artificial insemination, a rep for her music producer brother David confirms. "They both want this in their lives right now," says Foster's friend, actor Eric Roberts. "They're perhaps not typical parents, but they have the best foundation—a strong, abiding friendship." Foster revealed the news to close friends at her birthday party in March. "She said, 'The one thing I haven't done is to be a parent,'" says Roberts's wife, Eliza, also a friend. "Clay's coming from the same place." Adds fellow Idol
Season 2 alum Carmen Rasmusen of Aiken: "He has accomplished a lot in his career so it's a good time for him to be a dad."
SPEAKING TO HER DAD AGAIN
, 33, and her dad, Jon Voight, 69, have been at odds since 2002—when he claimed in an interview that she suffered from "serious mental problems"—but Jolie told Sydney's Sun Herald
that they are finally working to repair their fractured relationship. "We have spoken recently," she said. "We are going to try to get to know each other and maybe try not to be this daddy and daughter, but to be there for each other as friends in the coming years."
Gillian Anderson, 39, starring in X-Files: I Want to Believe
, out July 25, is expecting a child with businessman boyfriend Mark Griffiths, says her rep. She has a son, Oscar, 19 months, with Griffiths, and a daughter, Piper, 13, from a previous marriage.
, 22, has been stepping out lately with new arm candy: actor Justin Bartha, 29, who's currently in N.Y.C. filming The Rebound
opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones
. Although the relationship is new, "Ashley's been spending most of her time with him," a source tells Scoop. "Over Memorial Day weekend they went to see Indiana Jones." One of their more public dates? A birthday party for her publicist at N.Y.C.'s Broadway East on May 28. "They weren't being overly touchy-feely, but they were definitely getting cozy," a source says. Still, a friend of Ashley's cautions, it may not be too serious: "He's just one of her boy toys!"
& John Mayer
THE FRIENDS APPROVAL
John Mayer, 30, has received the Friends
stamp of approval from Courteney Cox Arquette
Arquette, his girlfriend Jennifer Aniston
's BFF. On June 1, Aniston, 39, brought Mayer to Cox Arquette's Malibu home, where a well-received Mayer chatted up hostess Cox Arquette and husband David Arquette, as well as celeb pals Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer, who also attended the get-together. Mayer capped off the day snuggling with Aniston as they watched the sunset. The couple reunited the previous day in L.A., after being apart for two weeks—she had been filming Marley & Me
near Philadelphia and he was in Asia. "They spent the day at Jen's place," a source says. "They were happy to see each other." They sure were: They ended the day at the Beverly Hills Hotel, followed by a sleepover at Aniston's home.
CAM'S WITH JEN'S EX!

" Combs at an L.A. party for Prince's book 21 Nights on May 31, the next day she had dinner at Santa Monica's Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi with model Paul Sculfor, 37—a.k.a. the British model Aniston dated last year! "They were really flirty," says an onlooker. "It looked like a date!"

Eric Dane and his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, who introduced the couple in 2006. Two days after the ceremony, Sheen and Mueller headed to Costa Rica for a 10-day honeymoon.
THE RETURN OF THE '90s SUPERMODEL
Supermodels who made their mark during the 1990s will grace several designers' fall ad campaigns. "These girls project more than just beauty," says Dan Caten, who tapped Amber Valletta for his Dsquared2 line (she's also in David Yurman's ads, below). "The girls from that decade got the name 'super' because they are super."
A FIERCE, HAUTE MESS
Talk about making a fierce fashion statement!
Whoopi Goldberg, 52, will don an outfit designed by Christian Siriano, winner of Bravo's Project Runway
, when she hosts the Tony Awards on June 15 in N.Y.C. "She wanted a wow factor," says the designer, who offered Scoop an exclusive preview.
THE HILLS IN VEGAS
cast took over Las Vegas nightclub LAX May 30 to celebrate Frankie Delgado's 27th birthday. While best bud Brody Jenner gave Delgado a shout-out over the mic ("You're my best friend and I love you!"), the rest of the cast didn't exactly play nice. Lauren Conrad
chilled with Lo Bosworth, but gave Audrina Patridge the cold shoulder (no worries, Justin Bobby was at her side). And Stephanie Pratt ignored Jenner because they fought at dinner earlier (she left the table in tears!). At 2 a.m., the girls went back to their hotel, the Venetian, and the guys hit a strip joint.

The new mom sang at a party May 31 at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas to launch jeweler Stephen Webster's silver collection (he designed her engagement ring). "I haven't [performed] in almost a year," she said, admitting, "It was nerve-racking!"
Gwen's rocker husband dishes about kicking off his solo career and prepping himself—and Kingston—for baby No. 2
The release of Wanderlust
marks the beginning of your solo career. Are you nervous about being on your own?
I come from the world of bands, so for me to be on my own is still slightly weird. I heard [my single 'Love Remains the Same'] on the radio, and instead of [my former band] "Bush," it goes "Gavin Rossdale." It sent shivers up my spine!
You're touring across the U.S. and Europe this summer, when Gwen is due. Will you be back home in time for the birth?
I'll take the time right around the birth to enjoy it and be there for Gwen—whatever she needs. And I'll be there for Kingston, [but] I feel a bit bad: "You know you're No. 1, right? Well, you've got to share that spot now!"
So how will you prepare Kingston to be a big brother?
When the baby comes home, they say you've got to get a really good present for Kingston. It's a bit like buying him. It doesn't bode well.
How have Gwen and Kingston changed you?
It's all about just being there totally, wholly, for someone else. And that's fine. Kingston saw me play a show, and suddenly it was so exciting. I want him to be proud of me, to grow up and be like, "Yeah, my dad rocks!"
How else do you spend quality time with Kingston?
I take him to Gymboree. I'm the only man [there]], terrifying the chicks. It's so funny. And I love cooking for Kingston. He is a carnivore: anything he can hold and eat at the same time, like a chicken leg—he's quite primal like that.
