Dennis Rodman Pleads No Contest in Domestic Assault | Dennis Rodman
Dennis Rodman pleaded no contest to misdemeanor spousal battery Tuesday.

The former basketball player was sentenced to one year of domestic violence counseling and three years probation, the Associated Press reports. He must also complete 45 days of community service – specifically physical labor like highway cleanup or graffiti removal.

Rodman, 47, was arrested at an L.A. hotel in April, when a woman reported that he'd struck her during a disagreement.

Days later, the ex-NBA star entered into an outpatient rehab facility.

"His life has not been going smoothly for the last few months," his manager, Darren Prince, told PEOPLE at the time – adding that Rodman has been under stress since his divorce from third wife Michelle Moyer. "He has not been able to see his kids. And he has been drinking too much."
