"It's probably going to be next fall," O'Brien, with Stephens at his side, told PEOPLE at A-Rod's All-Star party at New York City's 40/40 Monday. "We're in love and in no big hurry. We don't know if it will take place – in Jamaica, New York, or Nantucket."
"I think we're going to sneak off and do something really romantic," said Stephens, who recalled first meeting O'Brien at Los Angeles's Staples Center. "It was a basketball event."
Their first date was the Emmy Awards ceremony, and she especially recalls how good he looked in his tuxedo afterwards.
"He's a smart, interesting man, poetic," said Stephens, who has two young daughters and whose company, B ... for Betsy, specializes in handmade accessories and apparel. "He's wonderful."
O'Brien, 60, has also been through a lot, including two stints in rehab. Overcoming the ordeals, O'Brien and Stephens claim that their relationship remains strong.
