"Bernie Mac is in stable condition in a Chicago-area hospital," says the spokesperson's statement. "He is responding well to treatment and hopes to be released in the next few weeks. His family thanks everyone for the well wishes and concern."
The update follows what had been rumors about the severity of the 50-year-old performer's condition, which had been denied last weekend by the rep.
