REALITY
This competition, in which random folks like Lorenzo Lamas and Jermaine Jackson vie for a chance to record their own country song under the tutelage of John Rich, is actually reason for reality diehards to rejoice: The holy grail of reality casting, actress/professional wild card Sean "I'm Not Crazy" Young, has at last landed a job! And she does not disappoint. When the '80s screen queen (Blade Runner, No Way Out) takes the stage for the first time on Gone Country 2, it is wincingly awkward. Blanking on the words to "Hey Good Lookin'" and pleading with the band to start in a different key, Young is a train wreck—until ex-'N Syncer Chris Kirkpatrick and "Fame" singer Irene Cara bail her out. Yep, it's that kind of show. It's also the kind of show where Lamas turns to Jackson and says, "It's been at least 20 years since we were in Monte Carlo." It's all about as country as a pair of vinyl cowboy boots, but it's junky fun just the same.
