Listen to the song here:
The song is the album's sole original track and was written by Nashville songwriters Craig Wiseman and Tim Nichols (who also co-wrote Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying"), along with Wiseman's wife, KK. "KK is a minister and it originated from a sermon that she was going to present to a church," Hill said of the song. "It's an extraordinary piece of work."
Joy – Hill's first Christmas album – offers lush interpretations of classics such as "Little Drummer Boy" and "O Come All Ye Faithful" (featuring the likes of the Nashville Symphony). "It's very spiritual, kind of a throwback to the 1950s-'60s Christmas music," she said.
The album will be released Sept. 30, but fans can pre-order a copy through Hill's Web site.
