• In Las Vegas for the opening of Yellowtail Sushi Restaurant, Charlie Sheen and his expectant wife Brooke celebrated the actor's 43rd birthday a little early (actual date: Sept. 3) at N9NE Steakhouse. The couple dined with Vegas impresarios the Maloof brothers, Sheen's two daughters, Lola, 3, and Sam, 4, and KISS singer-guitarist Paul Stanley. While Sheen ate Dover sole for dinner, he also enjoyed a sweet end to the meal with a birthday cake. Later, the happy couple checked out KISS' concert at the Palms' Pearl Theater.

Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott, having a family dinner with 17-month-old son Liam at the Cheesecake Factory in Brentwood, Calif. The newest member of the family, 2-month-old Stella, wasn't there so Liam, who sat in a high chair, was the center of attention. Spelling – looking summery in a pink dress, glasses and her hair in pigtails – sipped wine throughout the meal while McDermott ate a burger with a large plate of fries. "It looked low-key," says an observer. "They just seemed to be having a regular, very casual dinner."

Claire Danes, feeding boyfriend Hugh Dancy fried shrimp at a star-studded party to celebrate the new documentary Valentino: The Last Emperor at the Guggenheim Museum in Venice, Italy. Later, Danes sipped Prosecco and nibbled gnocchi.

• Also in town for the Venice Film Festival: Elizabeth Hurley and husband Arun Nayar, who got an early start the morning after the Valentino party to head back to London. At Venice's Marco Polo International Airport, Nayar carried all the luggage while Hurley – wearing a leopard-print blouse, white jeans and heels – wheeled a Louis Vuitton suitcase and toted a Ferragamo carry-on bag with a book inside.

Donald Faison and girlfriend CaCee Cobb joining Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke with their dates for a triple Scrubs outing at singer-songwriter Joshua Radin's performance at L.A.'s House of Blues. Radin, who sang at Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's wedding, went to college with Braff – and the actor and his Scrubs costars made their presence known at the show. Braff played air guitar, yelling like crazy while Faison enthusiastically screamed, "Yeah!" But it wasn't all about fist-pumping fun: Faison and Cobb cuddled and stole small kisses throughout the night, while Braff kissed his date's neck and held her hand.
